A common occurrence is for some people choosing to use a more\u00a0<\/span>\u201cEnglish-friendly\u201d<\/span>\u00a0variation of a migrant\u2019s name\u00a0instead<\/a>\u00a0of the person\u2019s birth name if it\u2019s not easy to say, spell or remember. This microaggression is an act of symbolic violence that is not always intentional, but is still hurtful and disrespectful.<\/span><\/p>\n
